i have never felt the intervention of the holy spirit in my life.
maybe that is one of the reasons i never felt like a good christian.. i think someone can take any situation and say it was the holy spirit acting in their life if they want to believe bad enough.
i saw my mother do this many times.. anyone here had any experiences that they felt was the holy spirit acting in their lives?

Laphroigh is a very fine single malt Scotch with a VERY smoky flavor.
It's more than I can handle, but that's just me - I never felt I had a personal relationship with that particular Holy Spirit.

How many Holy Spirits are there? What is the limit of their miraculous power? Can the Holy Spirit do things that, oh, say Benny Hinn can't do? Why does the Holy Spirit waste his/her/its time with trivial matters when there are people who need limbs and organs restored? Where is the Holy Spirit when a person is dying of cancer or blood loss?

washington, sept. 9 a detailed study of child sexual exploitation in north america has concluded that the problem is far more widespread than has been previously documented.. the study, to be released on monday by researchers at the university of pennsylvania, relied on interviews with victims, child welfare workers and law enforcement officials in 28 cities in united states, mexico and canada from january 1999 through last march.. it also relied on the latest public and private estimates on the number of runaway and homeless youths in the three countries and on estimates by law enforcement officials and child welfare authorities of the number of these children sexually exploited.. the study estimated that in the united states 325,000 children a year were subjected to sexual exploitation, including prostitution, use in pornography and molestation.
I just took a look at the most recent census figures, which show that of the roughly 238 million people in the US, approximately 80 million are age 19 or younger. It's almost evenly divided for each of four age groups; 0-<5, 5-9, 10-14 and 15-19 - about 20 million in each category.
A story on Reuters says the total figure could be as high as 400,000 kids sexually abused each year. This means that approximately one in every 200 kids (19 or younger) is subjected to abuse each year.

i must say that being labeled an apostate has made my life quite interesting.
i'm shunned every day at cosmetology school and the town i live in is small and i run into jw's all the time.
That's true, it IS much more a "sales opportunity' than a real party, but you don't HAVE to buy anything. On the other hand, you're FREE! If you want to buy something, go ahead!
If you have the stomach for it, I would urge you to go and simply not allow anyone to shun you - or at least not make it easy for them.
Shunning is a cruel and foolish practice, but if you can charge up your "prankster' batteries, you can turn it into an opportunity for these people to make fools of themselves. It will require that you look deep into your heart and make absolutely sure that you will not let the JWs exercise CONTROL over you.
But only you know if you want to play YOUR game with them.
